Student Attendance Policy
To ensure the safety of all, we ask that students and parents self screen self report before coming on campus if there is any illness or suspected COVID exposures at home.
Classes at El Dorado High School are held from 8:25 to 12:20 for in-person and 11:05am to 3:25pm for virtual students. Monday through Thursday. Students may take an additional fourth class in order to recover a course credit, or to work ahead towards early graduation. Students who miss a class day or period must make up the time on Friday or after school. Students are also strongly encouraged to utilize Fridays for extra help and tutoring from the El Dorado High School instructional staff.
All absences are to be called in to the school office by a parent or guardian each day by 9 a.m. If we have not heard from a parent, the school will call home or work to verify the absence. In cases where the parent/guardian was not reachable, the student will be marked as unexcused absence.
In order to receive credit for a course, a student must attend class each day and complete all work required at a level that is acceptable by the teacher. All absences, whether excused or unexcused, must be flexed (all time made up).
Student absences will be monitored by the teachers and administration for accountability. If a student misses 10 consecutive days of school, he/she will be automatically withdrawn from school and must reenroll. If an absence occurs, the parent/guardian must contact the school daily and explain the reason for missing classes.
Tardiness
Any student arriving to class after 8:20 a.m. is considered late as well as joining the zoom meeting more than five minutes late without notifying the teacher of any tech issues. Tardiness will only be excused if a phone call is made prior to arrival and/or a signed note is brought in with a legitimate reason. Excessive tardiness may lead to further discipline action as deemed appropriate by administration.
Flex Time
Flex time may be completed Monday through Thursday during 4th period, and on Fridays. A student is required to complete all flex time within the same week of the absence in order to remain up to date with class work. If a student is absent on any day of the week, he/she is required to flex the time prior to that week ending. If a student does not flex the time within the same week of the absence, the student is still responsible for flexing the time immediately upon returning to school. An absence that is not made up is considered a permanent absence.
